Point Of Interest
Points of Interest (POIs) are designed to highlight a special feature or activity that is centered on a particular location.
A POI can be used to mark a static feature such as an information board or a sporting ground or it can be used to show a facility that has different dynamic statuses like an ice-skating rink which may be prepared in different ways. In the case of dynamic statuses, the POI icon is shown with a border that depicts the time since the preparation last took place and changes color automatically so that users can follow how recently the preparation was carried out without the need for any further updating of the system. When a POI is closed the border halo becomes red to show that that POI is closed.
POIs can also show a range of information such as text, links, and images as well as being portals for webcams and weather stations.
